House Cannith Guildhall
The heavy, almost fortress-like installation for the artificer’s guild in Flamekeep is a well-known fixture in the city, predating the Great War and in fact most records outside of their own and those of the Pearl Court. Low-slung and circular, the actual guildhouse is set on a small rise in the middle of the Clerk’s Ward of Flamekeep, some distance from the other guildhouses which are found in the Merchant’s Ward or the King’s Ward.
This becomes more reasonable when you understand that House Cannith, of all the houses, is on the best terms with the Ayus Maji and as a result sits almost equidistant between the seat of Thrane’s government and the Pearl Court itself. While this relationship has been slightly cooler as of late with factionalism on the rise in both organizations, it’s still a very steady alliance. The majority of the friction comes from the Spelljammers themselves, which House Cannith has traditionally had a near-monopoly on. However, the increasing traffic to and from Dersei has led to a slow accretion of foreign ‘Jammers who call Dersei their home port as well as a few local independents. Many of these Indeps, as they call themselves, work for large space-faring syndicates such as Dartmuth & Sons Holdings, and rely heavily on the Ayus Maji as their legal intercessors as they lack any other suitable local jurisdiction. The black-ocean trade, while sparse, is tremendously lucrative, and the shifting tide of commerce has been a galvanizing point for the more radical factions in House Cannith.
The Flamekeep Guildhall is one of the few that has no declared allegiance to either faction within the Guild, and as a result is often a political hotbed of intrigue. The involvement of an Ayus Maji in the burning of the Sot’uh Teahouse, however indirect, will certainly be mentioned in the future.
